RESOLUTION NO. 2015 -24
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING AN
AGREEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF S. SPRUCE AND THIRD AVE. SEDIMENT
CONTROL STRUCTURE REPAIR.
WHEREAS, the following bids were received on March 23, 2015;

WHEREAS, Northstar Paving and Construction, INC. is the lowest responsive bid; and,
WHEREAS, award to this bidder would be in the best interest of the City; and,
WHEREAS, the recommendation from City Administration is to award the agreement to
Northstar Paving and Construction, INC. for the base bids and additive alternate for the
total approximate cost of $99,685.00; and,
WHEREAS, sufficient monies are appropriated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA, that the agreement for the project entitled "S. SPRUCE AND THIRD AVE.
SEDIMENT CONTROL STRUCTURE REPAIR" be awarded to Northstar Paving and
Construction, INC. for the total approximate cost of $99,685.00.

Award of an agreement for the construction of construction of S.
Spruce and Third Ave. sediment control structure repair
This memo is in support of a resolution awarding an agreement for the construction of
the of S. Spruce and Third Ave. sediment control structure repair. The following bids
were opened on March 23, 2015.

This project will use state and federal funding to repair the damage caused by flooding in
the fall of 2013. A section of road was washed out when a culvert failed on S. Spruce
near the intersection with Kenai Ave. The base bid returns the road to original condition.
The additive alternate includes installing an additional culvert and armor rock to protect
the road near the culvert ends.
The Third Ave. sediment control structure outfall was also damaged by the flooding and
will be repaired as part of this project.
