NO. 2840 -2015
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA,
APPROPRIATING TRANSFERS FOR FY2016 BUDGETED CAPITAL PROJECTS IN THE
MUNICIPAL ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS CAPITAL PROJECT FUND, THE PARKS
IMPROVEMENT CAPITAL PROJECT FUND, AND THE CEMETERY IMPROVEMENTS
CAPITAL PROJECT FUND.
WHEREAS, at its June 3, 2015 meeting, Council adopted the FY2016 Citywide Budget
which included $273,000 in capital projects; and,
WHEREAS, $150,000 was appropriated to the Municipal Roadway Improvement
Capital Project Fund to be combined with $250,000 of State grant funds for the
reconstruction of First Ave.; and,
WHEREAS, $88,000 was appropriated to the Park Improvements Capital Project Fund,
$40,000 for the purchase and installation of playground equipment and related
improvements at Beaver Creek Park, $40,000 for the installation of a foundation and
concrete pad and the purchase of materials for the construction of a picnic shelter in
municipal park, and $8,000 for design of a fountain in Leif Hansen Memorial Park;
and,
WHEREAS, $35,000 was appropriated to the Cemetery Improvements Capital Project
Fund for fencing and access improvements to the cemetery expansion; and,
WHEREAS, appropriation is required in the individual capital project funds prior to
funds being extended; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI,
ALASKA:

Re: Ordinance 2840 -2015
The purpose of this memo is to provide supporting information for Ordinance 2840 -2015.
Ordinance 2840 -2015 will appropriate funds transferred from the General for capital projects in
the FY2016 Budget. Funds transferred by other funds require appropriation prior to expending
in the Funds receiving the transfers.
The FY2016 appropriated a transfer of $150,000 to the Municipal Roadway Improvements
Capital Project Fund to be combined with $250,000 of State grant funds for the reconstruction of
First Ave.
A total of $88,000 was appropriated to transfer to the Park Improvements Capital Project Fund
for the purchase and installation of playground equipment and related improvements at Beaver
Creek Park, $40,000, $40,000 for the installation of a foundation and concrete pad and the
purchase of materials for the construction of a picnic shelter in municipal park, and $8,000 for
design of a fountain in Leif Hansen Memorial Park.
$35,000 was appropriated to transfer to the Cemetery Improvement Capital Project Fund for
fencing and access improvements to the cemetery's expansion.
Passage of this Ordinance will allow each of these projects to proceed
