MEMORANDUM
TO: Terry Eubanks
FROM: Rachael Craig, Senior Center Director
DATE: October 13, 2015
REFERENCE: Marathon Donation
HilCorp has donated $3,500.00 for the Annual Senior Peninsula Wide Senior
Thanksgiving Dinner. This is the third year they have provided funding and volunteers
for this event.
This is an area -wide senior tradition that began in 1976. The Homemakers Club
provided and served the first meal to the seniors. From there it grew and Unocal Oil took
over the event which was held at the Elks Club. In 2001, Agrium continued the tradition
until their plant closed in 2008. In 2008, Marathon Oil accepted the tradition and donated
funds. In 2011, Marathon Oil was sold to HilCorp and together they provided a joint
event. In 2012, HilCorp has provided funding and volunteers for this event. The senior
center chef prepares the meal and HilCorp volunteers set up the dining room, serve the
meal, provide door prizes, and volunteer outreach to assist in the delivery of home meals
to the home -bound clients in our area and other senior center areas that choose to have
home delivered meals provided by HilCorp and their volunteers. Each senior center that
decides to participate in the home delivered meals picks up their hot meals at our senior
center for delivery on that day. This has been very successful!
