HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2016-09Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -09 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A $10,000 BUDGET TRANSFER WITHIN THE GENERAL FUND - BUILDINGS DEPARTMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AS A RESULT OF A PERSONNEL VACANCY. WHEREAS, the City's Building Official retired on August 4, 2015 and the position has remained unfilled with the most recent recruitment closing on February 29, 2016 with interviews currently being performed; and, WHEREAS, the department has been utilizing a professional services agreement to provide inspection and plan review services to minimize any disruption for the general public; and, WHEREAS, it is expected this professional services agreement will continue until the position is filled; and, WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the departments wage categories as a result of the position vacancies. Larry Floyd retired from the Building Official position in August. A recruitment was initiated in July, extended in August due to insufficient qualified applicants, and closed without filling the position in October for the same reason. A successful recruitment was initiated in November, closed in February, and a new Building Official will start in April. This transfer will utilize unexpended funds from the wage categories to pay for professional building inspection and plans examiner services until the position is filled.
