DATE: June 8, 2016
SUBJECT: Resolution 2016 -29, Budget Transfer, Matching Funding for the
Restoration of a Historical City of Kenai Fire Truck
The purpose of this correspondence is to discuss and respectfully request Council adoption of
the above referenced Resolution.
The donation of a $10,000 matching grant for this purpose was included in the draft 2017
budget, but was removed prior to adoption.
We asked Administration if there were budgeted funds in this year's (FY2016) budget that could
be used for this project without a budget amendment requiring the use of fund balance.
Administration identified a source of funding that would not require the use of fund balance,
non - departmental contingency. Since FY2016 is almost over, there will not be further demands
on this proposed funding source.
The restoration of the fire truck, the majority of funding coming from private funding sources is
an important component of the City of Kenai's history that will be enjoyed by present and
future citizens of our City.
Thank you for your positive consideration of Resolution 2016 -29.
