HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2913-2016Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 2913 -2016 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF ALASKA FOR THE PURCHASE OF LIBRARY BOOKS. WHEREAS, the City of Kenai received a grant from the State of Alaska, Department of Education & Early Development for the purchase of books at the Library; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Kenai to appropriate these grant funds for the purpose intended. Section 1. Form. That this is a non -code ordinance. Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized to accept a grant from the State of Alaska, Department of Education and Early Development in the amounts of $ 6,900 for the purchase of library books and to execute grant agreements and to expend the grant funds to fulfill the purpose and intent of this ordinance. Section 3. That estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: General Fund Increase Estimated Revenues: Library - State Grants $6,900 Increase Appropriations: Library - Books $6,900 PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this 7h day of September, 2016. As per the grant award, the amount of $6,900 is to be used for the purchase of books and should be deposited in account 001 - 440 -4666. The library director completes an application each year in order to receive these funds. Certain minimum standards must be met in order to receive this grant. These include reporting requirements on expenditures and collection statistics, number of hours that the library is open to the public, minimum educational requirements for the Library Director and continuing education requirements.
