Hilcorp Donation
Hilltop donated $3,500.00 for the Annual Senior Peninsula -Wide Senior Thanksgiving
Dinner. This is the fourth year they have provided funding and volunteers for this event.
This is an area -wide senior tradition that began in 1976. A Homemakers Club provided
and served the first meal to the seniors. From there it grew and Unocal Oil took over the event
which was held at the Elks Club. In 2001, Agrium continued the tradition until their plant closed
in 2008. In 2008, Marathon Oil accepted the tradition and donated funds. In 2011, Marathon
Oil was sold to Hilcorp. Together they provided a joint event. In 2012, Hilcorp continued the
tradition by providing funding and volunteers. Door prizes, and centerpieces are given out to
the special winner. One of the Hilcorp volunteers assists a home -meal driver in the delivery of
home meals to the home -bound clients in the various senior center's delivery area. The different
senior centers on the Peninsula may choose to have their home meals delivered that day by their
own meals driver and a volunteer from Hilcorp. Each senior center decides whether or not they
want to participate in the home - delivered meal process. Each Center picks up their hot meals on
this given day at our senior center. This has been successful for Soldotna, Nikiski, Sterling!
The donation is broken down as follows:
Food: $3,200.00
Patsy Clifford (table $ 300.00
Decorations)
TOTAL $3,500.00
