HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2946-2017CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 2946 -2017 Sponsored by: Administration AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, ACCEPTING AND APPROPRIATING A VOLUNTEER FIRE ASSISTANCE (VFA) GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOREST SERVICE PASSED THROUGH THE STATE OF ALASKA DIVISION OF FORESTRY FOR THE PURCHASE OF FORESTRY FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT. WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Division of Forestry has provided a grant in the amount of $6,750 to assist the City of Kenai Fire Department in purchasing forestry firefighting equipment ; and, WHEREAS, appropriation of this grant for its intended purpose is in the best interest of the City and its residents; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, that estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: Section 1. Form : That this is a non -code ordinance Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized to accept a grant from the Unities States Department of Agriculture Forest Service passed through the State of Alaska Division of Forestry in the amount of $6,750 for the purchase of forestry firefighting equipment and is authorized to execute a grant agreement and to expend the grant funds to fulfill the purpose and intent of this ordinance. Section 3. That estimated revenues and appropriations be increased as follows: General Fund Increase Estimated Revenues: Federal Grants — Fire $6,750 Increase Appropriations: Fire — Small Tools /Minor Equipment $6,750 Section 4. Severabilitv: That if any part or provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstances is adjudged invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such judgment shall be confined in its operation to the part, provision, or application directly involved in all controversy in which this judgment shall have been rendered, and shall not affect or impair the validity of the remainder of this title or application thereof to other persons or circumstances. The City Council hereby declares that it would have enacted the remainder of this ordinance even without such part, provision, or application. The grant will fund the purchase of a portable pump and fire nozzles. r
