CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL Vice Chair Widmayer called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Roll was confirmed as follows: Commissioners present: N. Widmayer, J. Halstead, T. Wisniewski, J. Hudson, S. Thornton Commissioners absent: C. Stephens Staff/Council Liaison present: Parks & Rec Staff Director B. Frates, Council Liaison J. Glendening A quorum was present. 2. AGENDA APPROVAL MOTION: Commissioner Halstead MOVED to approve the agenda; Commissioner Thornton SECONDED the motion. There were no objections; SO ORDERED. 3. APPROVAL OF MEETING SUMMARY a. March 2, 2017 MOTION: Commissioner Halstead MOVED to approve the meeting summary of March 2, 2017 and Commissioner Thornton SECONDED the motion. There were no objections; SO ORDERED. 4. PERSONS SCHEDULED TO BE HEARD — None. 5. PERSONS PRESENT NOT SCHEDULED — None 6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS — None 7. NEW BUSINESS a. FY18 Draft Budget The FY18 Draft Budget was reviewed. Director Frates noted the budget was conservative but felt comfortable with where the department came in; also noted capital project submittals were still under review. It was clarified that the cemetery expansion was a top priority and that bleacher replacement for the softball fields had been included in the capital project requests. b. 2017 Summer Project List The summer project list was reviewed noting upgrades to the softball field. C. Cemetery Expansion Project — Phase I Site Design Revision Director Frates explained that the architect firm had completed initial revisions to the Phase I design, mostly pertaining to creating more separation between the plot areas for ease of maintenance and eliminating the need for people to traverse over another's plot. Plot arrangements, counts, road, and fencing were also discussed. 8. REPORTS a. Parks and Recreation Director — Parks and Recreation Department Director Frates reported on the following: • Pathways to Poetry project; • Status on outdoor skating and trail grooming; • Summer temporary hire process; • Little Free Library Station project. b. Commission Chair — Commission Vice Chair Widmayer noted the March Ice Schedule included as an informational item. C. City Council Liaison - Council Member Glendening reviewed miscellaneous actions at the City Council level. 9. NEXT MEETING ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATION — May 4, 2017 Commissioner Halstead noted he would be unable to attend. 10. COMMISSION QUESTIONS & COMMENTS — None 11. PERSONS PRESENT NOT SCHEDULED TO BE HEARD — None 12. INFORMATION — None. 13.
