I have 10 years previous experience serving on the Kenai City Council and know and understand the duties, responsibilities and expectations of a council member. I believe that I am a well-qualified candidate, having served on the City Council, as a member of the City's Planning and Zoning Commission, and as a state legislator. Self-introduction of candidates. Questions of council: o Do you plan to run again in October? 2. Concern local businesses are falling behind in sales tax payments, property tax payments, water and sewer bills. Do you have any ideas or solutions to alleviating the distress that our small businesses are going through in town? 3. What would you tell the business person who is struggling, but is paying their property tax and their sales tax because the sales tax is collected from the consumer? 4. The sales tax loss due to e-commerce trade is becoming a bigger and bigger part of our budget and will become a bigger and bigger part of our fiscal gap. How do we go about accommodating e-trade and yet run the government? 5. How would you change the budget and do you have any personal interest in any department? Questions from candidates: o area? In regard to the discussion at the time about expanding the airport, what does the council see as the potential for this project, given environmental and living quality issues being satisfied? Questions from the general public: 1. In this year and the previous year, how many council meetings or Harbor Commission, Planning & Zoning, etc, have you attended? 2. Regarding the proposed library addition (even though they're have been two bond issues for that has failed), how do the prospective council people feel about this if they felt that we did actually did need a library addition and if so, how would they suggest that one be funded? The term will run from April, 2003 through October, 2003. To be considered, you must be a a. Qualified voter of the City of Kenai; b. At least 21 years of age; c.
