~ • 7~~,. ciTY of KEHA~ OSDIIIANCK H0. ].415-91 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA AMENDING THE OFFICIAL CITY OF KENRI ZONING~MAP FOR CERTAIN LANDS ADJACENT TO MARATHON ROAD, NITHIN SECTIONS 32 & 33, T6N, R11N, S.M. AK. WHEREAS, KMC 14.20.270 establishes a procedure to amend the Official Zoning Map of the City of Kenai, and WHEREAS, the Official City of Kenai Zoning Map depicts these lands as partially Conservation (C} and partially Suburban Residential (RS). WHEREAS, the City of Kenai desires to render the entire area one zone which could silo" the development of these airport lands for industrial, manufacturing, and potential educational training facilities, etc., and WHEREAS, the proposed zoning designation is Lipht Industrial (iL}, and, WHEREAS, the Kenai Planning & Zoning Commission held a public hearing on January 23, 1991 and as a result of that public hearing recommend approval of the proposed amendment to the Light Industrial (iL} zoning designation. i NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED HY THE COUNCIL OF TflE CITY OF KENAT, ALASKA, as folloMS: Section 1. Sub3ect properties consisting of those lands depicted in Exhibit A described as lands adjacent to Marathon Road, xithin Sections 32 & 33, T6N, R11N, S.M. Proposed Land Use: Industrial, Manufacturing, Educational, Training Facilities, etc. Discussion The property described above is ad3acent to Marathon Road and encompasses land that has been set asaide for such facilities as the UAA Fire Training Center, Coast Guard Cold Water Training Facility, People Count School, etc. Currently, the zoning is Suburban Residential iRS3 and Conservation tC) which would not be compatible for placement of such facilities. The current Land Use Plan designates the area~for "Office/Manufacturing", as it does for the entire airport. For the area in question, this use seems compatible with the intended use, as no classification exists for general industry at this time. .. .. . •+• ~•~. , Aa the City is in the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan, the Land Vote Plan and Zoning will be reviewed Citywide, especsally waLthin the airport lands boundary. Ass~the Land Vae Plan is updated, the area within the IL zone designation will brave the designation o!
