Improve the existing bike lanes and designate more bike lanes on ma in roadways. 2 . Educate drivers to existing bike laws and share the road requirements . 3. Increase available bike parking/lock up stops . Build overpasses for safe access to bike trails and paths. 1. Enforce no phones while driving vehicles 2. More bike I pedestrian paths 3. Bike path on Bridge Access Rd Educate bicyclists on the laws. Make more bike paths that are safe and away from the roadway. There are currently no bike paths on the north side of Kenai at all where I see alot of bicyclists riding to and from work each day on the roadway since there is no shoulder. More bike lanes More bike paths More knowledge about traffic laws governing cyclists More bike paths and markings Would love to see bike paths extended down K-Beach road to Kasilof. Biking along the Bridge Access Rd is dangerous, not sure how to improve. Do a bike/pedestrian study in the city to determine where paths are needed and what paths need improvement or separation from high traffic areas 1. Add bike lanes on Kenai Spur Hwy & Bridge Access Rd. 2. Add share the road signs on above roads Bike specific events to increase participation. Education , enforcement, more bike paths 1 -Annual bike rally . 2 -Sunday rides. 3 -Ride to work/school days . 1. re-pave the existing path, the Unity Trail as it is bumpy and hard to ride on 2. designated commuter bike zones where vehicle traffic is fined for pass ing on the right-turning into the bike lanes 3. better signage for bike specific lanes (see reason 2) More Bike Paths and Bike Lanes . People who ride mountain bikes it bikes in general are a target here .... many bikers a year are killed to motorists not looking for us, I was born and raised here. It was better in the ?O 's and 80's 1-Dedicated , independent bike trails away from major roads 2-Biking along Bridge Access very dangerous, add trail off the highway for those who commute to Soldotna v ia bike 3-Link trail between Kenai and Nikiski Connect bike paths where possible to increase safety Protected bike path beach access to connect the loop . Penalties fit drivers running red lights Let the bike paths n the winter more Make areas CLEARLY bike lanes . More signage stating no motorized vehicles on or parked on bike lanes. We have too many people rid ing four wheelers and ATVs on those lanes and have run many cycl ists off the path or the A TVs leave rocks and ruts on the path making it unsafe to ride bikes on in some areas. bike paths 13 I 17 DATE 9/11/2018 1 :26 AM 9/2/2018 12:18 PM 8/31/2018 9 :51 PM 8/27/2018 12 :28 AM 8/26/2018 1:15 PM 8/24/2018 9:41 AM 8/23/2018 10:51 AM 8/20/2018 9:29 AM 8/19/2018 10 :35 AM 8/17/2018 9:06 PM 8/16/2018 11 :24 AM 8/16/2018 2 :29 AM 8/15/2018 9 :35 PM 8/15/20184:11 PM 8/15/2018 1:20 PM 8/15/2018 6:44 AM 8/15/2018 12 :07 AM 8/14/2018 11 :08 PM 8/14/2018 9 :22 PM 8/14/2018 8:44 PM 8/14/2018 8 :27 PM 8/14/2018 8 :01 PM Page 49 of 62 23 24 25 Fall 2018 Bicycle Friendly Community Survey More bike lanes. An acre of trees absorbs enough CO2 over one year to equal the amount produced by driving a car 26,000 miles? www.arborenvironmentalalliance.com/carbon- tree-facts.asp Photo of the month, taken January 3, 2019 by Ed while he was grooming the Nordic Ski Trails at the Kenai Golf Course. Ski Kenai Kenai’s Nordic Ski Trails are suitable for all levels of skiers. The terrain is predominately flat with a variety of landscapes such as hills and passages through trees. The sce- nic views are beautiful, particularly at sunset. Kenai’s trails are home to both the Kenai Central High School & Kenai Middle School Nordic Ski Teams. Both teams are hosting a meet on January 25th. This will be a perfect day to head out to the trails to cheer on the home team. Our trails are groomed as conditions and staff allow.
