AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA REMOVING i
LAND FROM PUBLIC USE SO IT CAN BE UTILIZED FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CONSTRUCTING A SHELTER FOR BATTERED WOMEN.
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai, Alaska received Potont No. 523 from
the State of Alaska which authorized the conveyance of Tract B,
Park View Subdivision (being a portion of Government Lots 128 and
156), and
WHEREAS, Ctty of Kenai Resolution 67-30 dedicated the afore-
mentioned lands to park and recreational use, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai hen reserved additional lands for
parka and recreational use in lieu of the described property, and
WHEREAS, Kenai Municipal Code 22.05.050 requires that whether
land should no longer be dedicated to a public uoa shall be
determined by the City Council by ordinanco, and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Kenai acknowledges the need
for a shelter to accommodate battered women and their children in
a secured facility, and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned land would be ovailable for lease to
the Kenai-Soldotno Women's Resource and Crisis Center to build
such a :structure if no longer held for public use, and
WHEREAS, the Kenai-Soldotno Women's Resource and Crisis Center is
motivated to construct such a facility within the City of Kenai,
and
WHEREAS, said facility is anticipated to be completed within
three years, and
WHEREAS, the development of the proposed facility would addrosu a
social service need in the area as well as contribute to the
economic well-being, of the City, and
WHEREAS, Tract B, Park View Subdivision in duemod to be a
desirable location for the shelter for battered women,

KENAI, ALASKA that Tract H, Park View Suhdivioion it) no lornger
needed for public une but can be bei.ter uned for constructing a
shelter for battered women if completed within three yearn of the
effective dote of thin ordinance.
