HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 0772-1982CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 772-82 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, TO PROVIDE FOR A SALARY SUPPLEMENT FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF KENAI IN LIEU OF BUDGETED CITY CONTRIBUTIONS UNDER FICA AND TO TRANSFER ALL UNEXPENDED BALANCES IN FICA ACCOUNTS TO SALARY ACCOUNTS. WHEREAS, the budget of the City of Kenai for fiscal 1981-82 provided monies for contributions under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act for the Benefit of Employees through June 30, 1982, I WHEREAS, in response to the wishes of a large preponderance of 77Z City employees, the City of Kenai ceased participation under the Social Security Act as of December 31, 1981, and WHEREAS, it appears to be equitable to make a salary supplement for fiscal year 1981-82 to distribute to employees monies previously budgeted for the contributions of the City of Kenai to the Social Security System for the period January 1,1982, through June 30, 1982, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, as follov,s s Section .is That a salary supplement will be made so that each employee of the City will be paid an amount equal to 6.78 of the base salary earned by said employee during the period January 1, 1982 through June 30, 1982. "Base salary" as used herein does not include overtime pay, stand-by pay, call -out pay, payments for cashed -in leave time, or Qualification Pay, Recognition Entitlements, or any other special pay. &@Qt1QA_2.s. That the sums due each employee after normal payroll deductions have been subtracted therefrom shall be paid to each employee by the Administration as soon as possible after the compensation paid employees through June 30, 1982, has been determined. fiapjjon 3s That the sums paid under this ordinance are a one-time salary supplement payment to the employees and will not be repeated. Section As That the sums due hereunder to each employee shall not be included with a regular paycheck but shall be made in a separate payment clearly showing that this is salary supplement for the last half of fiscal 1981-82 budget year with all deductions shown thereon.
