ORDINANCE, NO, 795-82
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL Of' THE CITY OF KENAI., ALASKA,
AMENDING XMC 1,10 TO ADD A NEW BECTION TO 1,11411, Ji'MPLOYHYNT OF
COUNCIL MEMBERS BY THE CITY,
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska, by statute, the Municipality of
Anchorage, by ordinance, and the City of Seward, by Charter, all
have adopted provisions limiting employment of members of their
legislative body for a period of one year After the termination
Of such service, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kona1 has no such limitation oithor in its
Charter or by ordinance, although Section 5-6 of the Charter of
the City Of Kenai prohibits a council member from Gelling or
bartering anything to the City or contracting with the City with
certain exceptions, and
WHEREAB, it appears to be sound governmental policy to avoid any
influoneo on meffibers of the legislative body tonding to increase
Particular salaries, provide now positions, modify job
descriptions, or take any other legislative action which might
tend, or give the public kmprescion of tonding, to promote
preasure within the Iogislativo body to provide municipal
employment to a member of that body,
NOW, THERSPORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OLD THE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA, an followa:

heroby amended by adding a now section to be numbered 1,10,070
which shall read as follows$

(a) A member of the Council of the City of Kenai shall not
be eligible to make application for employment (either full
or part-time Or on a contractual basis) or for appointment
to an Office for which a salary is paid by the City (other
.i than to the office of mayor).
(b) A member of the Clay Council shall not be cGnBiderod to

be making application for employment for the purpooea of
this auction by reason of offering to soli or garter, to,
purchaoo from, or contract with the City of Kenai pursuant
to the exeoptiona contained in Section 5-8 of the Charter of
the City of Kenai.
