' AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI INCREASING THE PRESENT SALES TAX LEVY FROM ONE PERCENT TO THREE PERCENT BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Kenai, Alaska: Section 1. Section 7-25 of the Code of the City of Kenai is hereby amended to read as follows: "SALES TAX LEVY Section 7-25. (a) There is hereby levied a consumers' sales tax of one percent on all retail sales, on all rents, and on a ll services made or rendered within the City limits within the City of Kenai, measured by the gross sales price of the seller. (b) Effective October 1 , 197 5, there is hereby levied a consumers' sales tax of an additional two percent on all retail sales, on all rents, and on all servic.es made or rendered within th e City l imits within the City of Kenai , mcasm·ed by the gross sales price of the seller." Section 2. Section 7-26 of the Code or' the City of Kenai is hereby am ended to read as follows: "OWNERSHIP OF MONIES Section 7-26 . The three perce nt consumers' sales tax l evied here in, ana' a ll sales taxes collected, are City of Ke nai monies, and the seller is a t a ll times accountable to the City of Kenai for such monies." Section 3. Section 7-27 of the Code of the City of Kenai is h ereby amended to read as follows: "DEDICATION Section 7-27. (a) The revenues from the t ax collected under Section 7-25 (a) are dedicated to retire the gener a l obligation bonds a uthori zed at that c ertain special election held in t he City of Kenai on the 25th day of May, 1971. It is the intent of this d edication tha t the proceeds shall be used exclusiv ely for the purposes of repaying, retiring or othe rwise discha rgin g the City of the obligations of the bonded debt or obligation assumed pursuant to the authorization of the special election. (b) One-half of all revenues of the consumers' sale s t ax l evied by Page One, ORDINA NCE NO. 267-75 f i ··• ·"' ; Section 7-25(b) is dedicated to be applied to the d ebt service fund, to enable the City to me e t its cash restriction requirements a s provided for in various bond ordinances. (c) One-half of all revenues of the consume rs' s a les tax levie d by Section 7-2 5 (b) is d e dicated to be applied against current operating expe nses." Section 4 . Section 7-30(a) of the Code of the City of Kenai is hereby amende d to read as follows : "TAX SCHEDULE Section 7-30 .
