ORDINANCE NO. 681-81
AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFF ENAI, ALASKA,
AMENDING KMC 23,55.030 FOR INCREASEV IN OUALTFTCATION PAY TO
CERTAIN EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the proposed annual budget for the fiscal year 1981-82
includes increases in levels of qualification pay for certain
employees, and
WHEREAS, due to classification changes in the Fire Department in
the past, it is also necessary to delete reference to the Fire
Lieutenant and substitute where necessary Fire Captain, and
WHEREAS, these changes must be made by ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA, that KMC 23.55.030 is hereby amended as follows:
23.55.030 Qua if igation Pay: (a) in recognition of
professional development, personal time, and effort of the
individual to achieve same, the following annual recognition
entitlement is authorized, payable on a pro rata monthly basis.
(b) This recognition entitlement is not considered when
calculating hourly rates for overtime, double-time, annual leave,
or holiday pay.
(1) Police Department: Certification in accordance with
State of Alaska Certification Standards,
Police Officer
Intermediate Certification
Advanced Certification
Police Sergeant
Intermediate Certification
Advanced Certification
Police Lieutenant
Advanced Certification

(2) Fire Departments
(i) Recognition entitlements tor an associate degree
in fire science is $480 per year. Eligible grades are
firefighter, engineer, [lieutenant,] and captain.
(ii] Recognition entitlements for EMT certification
for eligible grades for firefighter, ongineer, and
vWn (lieutenant) ate as follows:
EMT I Instructor .3 250 [$ 601/year
EMT II 1 500 [$120]/year
EMT III -U,.= [$3001/year
(3) Water and sewer utility: Certification in accordance
with the State of Alaska Certification Standards:
W & S II S 300 [$1801/year
W & S III S 480 [$3001/year
