HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2020-48;e Sponsored by: Admi n istration Ki;NAI C ITY OF KENAI RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -48 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES TO BEGIN DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW MASTER PLAN FOR THE WASTE WATER TREATMENT FACILITY WHEREAS, the City of Kenai through enactment of Resolution No . 2020-24 Awarded a term agreement for Professional Services to HDL Engineering; and, WHEREAS, Fiscal Year 2020 budget includes funds for Master Planning services ; and, WHEREAS, the City received a proposal from HDL Engineering Consultants on May 21, 2020 for Phase 1 of the Waste Water Treatment Facility Master Plan in the amount of $39,827; and , WHEREAS, the last Master Plan was completed by CH2M Hill in March 2004; and , WHEREAS, a current Master Plan is an essential tool to assist with Capital Improvement Planning. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA: Section 1. That the Kenai City Council authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement with HDL Engineering Consultants to provide Professional Engineering Services to the City for development of a new Master Plan Phase 1 for the Waste Water Treatment Facility and to issue a Purchase Order to HDL Engineering in the amount of $39,827 . Section 2 . That this Resolution takes effect immediately upon passage. Funding for Master Planning Services was included in FY2020's existing budget. Phase 1 will provide an initial assessment of the facility . Public Works staff will then be able to direct the team to focus on areas of importance to us . Additional phases are expected and their agreement will be amended as we go. The last Master plan was developed over 16 years ago. These plans are typically completed every 1 O ten years, and the information they provide drive Capital Improvement Plans . This task is necessary and well overdue . Public Works staff fully supports moving forward . Council's support is respectfully requested.
