THE PERSONNEL REGULATIONS OP THE CITY OF KENAI BY ADDING THERETn A
CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND A PAY PLAN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI AS FOLLOWS:

ARTICLE XI
PAY PLAN
A . Exempt Salaries:
1. City Manager
2. City Attorney

$43,000 annually
$37,500 annually
$23,500 annually
B . Salarv Structure by Grade:

2. On completion of the probationary period, each employee shall Wa
advanced one step. At succeeding anniversary dates, subject to evaluation,employee
map be advanced a step increment. The time period normally between stegs B to C
to D to E to F is one (1) year. The time normally between Steps F to AA to BB is
two (2) years.

C. Qualification Pay:
In recognition of prof~scic.ial development, f,ersonal ti.rne and ~
effort of the f.ndiviGual to achieve Name, the fol]ow5nu annual
recognition entitlement is authorized, payable on a pro rata
monthly basis.
This recognition entitlement is not considered when calculating i
hourly rates for overtime, duubl.c-time, annual leave or holiday
pay. ~
1. Police Department: Certification in accordance with f
State of Alaska Cer~fication Standards.
(a) Police Officer.
1) Intermediate Certification $720/year

2. Fire Department: a '.
(a) Recognition entitlements for an associate degree
in fire science is $480 per year. Eligible grades are
firefighter, engineer, lieutenant and captain. ~

D . Uniform Allowance:
1. The following annue.I allowances are established to defer the cost of uniform
cleaning, maintenance and replacement for second and succeeding years of service:
Jail -!6150
Police - X250
Fire - $200
Animal Control - 3250
Payment shall be made based on pro-rata service and paid in July Ist and
January 1st installments.
2. On hiring, the respective department head shall issue from stock or purchase
from appropriate funds a basic uniform and equipment fssue.
3. Department of Public Works, Water & Sewer and Animal Control personnel
shall be authorized by purchase from appropriated funds, safety shoes, hard hats
and other OSHA required items. Laundry service will also be provided for those
clothing items furnished .
E . Hourly Rates -Part-•ime Employees:
PT-1 X3.40/hour
PT-2 63.65/hour
PT-3 43.90/hour
PT-4 $4.15/hour
PT-5 X4.40/hour
PT-6 X4.65/hour
PT-7 X4.90/hour
F. Stand-by Pay
Where employees are regularly placed on a stand-by status for a Saturday,
Sunday or Holiday, they shall be entitled to a minimum of two (2) hours pay for such
stand-by status. In the event of a "call out", overtime shall be paid for hours worked
but nct less than the minimum of two (2) hours.
G. The effective date of this ordinance shall be July 1, 1979.
