Peter, City Clerk PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, this Ist day of Febmia~, 1978. VIMCENT O'REILLY~~R F_IRRT ~EAOIN(~: January 18, 1978 SECOND READING: Feb~.uary I, 1975 EFFECTIVE ]3ATE: March 1, 1978 TO ~' ROSS KINNEY, FINANCE DIRECTOR FRO,":: CHIEF THOMAS~ DATE~ JANUARY 9, 1978 SUBJECT: FUNDING OF CHEMICAL FOR AIRPORT CRASH GNIT This is in reference as to the availability of funds so as to change the load in the airport crash unit. There is nothing in the operations manual as to when the unit should be dumped, but I might add that even though dry chemical and or light water have no shelf life, and this crash unit is nothing more than an oversized fire extinquisher and they are required to be serviced yearly. It has been over four years since our unit had been dumped. The following is a breakdown cost of what would be required. 1500 pounds Super K dry chemical @ 80¢ pound 25 gallons light water @ $10.50 gallon 3 bottles Nitrogen $1200.00 262.50 105.00 Total 1570.50 In addition to this if we were to include say 250 gallons diesel fuel at $116.25 and 100 gallons of gas at $52.80 (total 169.05) this would give some live fire training on this unit. q
