AN ORDIt~.ANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF I(ENAI Rf~PBALIN¢{ SEC-
TION 17-78 OF THE ~NAI CODE, 1963, AND ENACT~O A R~ISED 8CI~DULE
OF ~8 FOR USERS CONNEC~D TO CITY WA'~R AND SEWER SYSTEMS;
ALSO, RB~ALINO ARTICLE 1, EleCTRIC SERVICE, CHAPT~ 17 OF ~AI CODE.
WHEltBAS, revenues of tl~ water and sewer systems have been found to be
insufficient to operate and maintain the systems to a reasonable standard; end
WHEREAS, monthly servtee ebro'gas are tho principal source of rovonucs fo~
operating the water nnd sewer ~-ystems; and
WHERP. AS, levele of service and ope~'ating condition have caused Increased
costs at least equal to the tnflatlonnry t. isa of the prevailing price levels 8inco estab-

WHEREAS, City of Kenai no Ions:er is operating as Kenat City Electra; Kenai
City Electric was sold to llomer Electric. Becpuse these provision9 axe now out of
date, those provisions in Articie 1, Eleetrfe Sex-vice, of Chopter 17, Kenni Code,
should be repealed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Kenai,
Alaska, ns follows:
Seetton 1. It is tho finding of the Council that an increase in monthly
service or user chol'gos is urgently required in view of tho drastic increase
in costs, which at least equals tho inflationary ruse of pr~ailing pi, ice levels
since tho establishment of tho water and ~wer rates by tho City of gonai,
Alaska, on May 1S, 1973.
Section 2. Section 17-76 of the Kenai Code 1963 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. Seetton 17-76 (now numbered Section i7.40.0i0) is hereby
reenacted in its entirety as attached to this ordinance.
Section 4. Article I, Electric Service, of Chapter 17, PUBLIC UTILITIES
AND ENTERPRISES, Konai City Code, is hereby repealed in

Note 3: When a restaurant serves

additional charge for a bar will be
applied. However, when a restaur-
ant has a separate bat', the bar stools
will be rated at the over-thirty-stool
rate.
Minimum Charge: One month's service.
8peeisl Conditions:
Where more than one customer is served from the same servo
tee line betwoen the City's water main and the customer's
pr~mises, the City reserves the exelusive rillht to determine
how the Demand Cha~ge under this Rate Schedule shall be
plied and apportioned between said customers.
The Base Rate under this Rate Schedule ineludes appropriate
eharges for providing water supply, pumpint:, treatment and
a minimum amount of water, and is applicable to all commercial
establishments receiving water from the City.
Cesspool Pumper Charge: $10.00 per dump.

SCHEDULE D - FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE

,Special Conditions:
(a) Water sea,.ice under this Schedule shall be available, at the
option of the City. to "dry type" automatic sprinkler systems
for fire protection only.
All fire protection lines, sprinklers, pipes and valves on priv-
ate property shall be owned, installed and maintained by the
owner and/or customer.
(e) All connections between the City's main and p~ivately owned
facilities will be made at the expense of the customer.
At the option of the City, sprinkler service may be metered.
The meter and the installation thereof shall be at the expense
of the euotomer.
(e) No tap or outlet for use other than fire ~,ro~ection shall be
permitted on fire llnoo or mains, unless approved by the City.
In times of emergency, the ~lght is reser~red by the City to
turn off any fire hydrant end/or sprinkler system at the dis-
oration of the City Fire Chief or other authorized person.
No drains from fire sprinkler systems shall be directly ~on-
neeted with the City Sanita.,'y Sewers. and no eross-eonnection
whatsoever will be permitted between fire protection facilities
eonneeted to tho City's system and possible sources of contam-
inated water.

The City reserves the right to determine the size, type, and manu-
faetm* d the meter to be installed. Meter and rer~ote reading de-
vice shall be purchased and installed by owner and inspected by
the City. Meter repair as neoes~ary shall be made by the City with
costs billed to owner.
Sewez' Charges: Monthly sewvr charges shall be 88% ~ water
