HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 0414-1978 CITY OF KENAI ORDINANCE NO. 414-78 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AMENDING THE PERSONNEL REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF KENAI BY ADDING THERETO A CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND A PAY PLAN. Exempt Salaries: 1. City Manager $40,000 annually 2. City Attorney $34,500 annually 3. City Clerk $21,600 annually B. Salary Structure by Grade: 1. Table (attached) 2. On completion of the probationary period, each employee shall be advanced one step. At succeeding anniversary dates, subject to evaluation, employee may be advanced a step increment. The time period normally between steps B to C to D to E to F is one ~.) year. The time normally between Steps F to AA to BB is two (2) years. '. Ordinance No. 414-TP~Page 3 ,-- C. Qualification Pay: In recognition of professional development, personal time and effort of the individual to achieve same, the following annual recognition entitlement is authorized, payable ~3n a pro rata monthly basis. This recognition entitlement is not considered when calculating hourly rates for overtime, double-time, annual leave or holiday pay. 1. Police Department: Certification in accordance with State of Alaska Certification Standards. (a) Police Officer. 1) Intermediate Certification 2) Advanced Certification $720/year $1,440/year (b) Police Sargeant. 1) Intermediate Certification 2) Advanced Certification $720/year $1,440/year (c) Police Lieutenant. 1) Advanced Certification $720/year 2. Fire Department: (a) Recognition entitlements for an associate degree in fire science is $480 per year. Eligible grades are firefighter, engineer, lieutenant and captain. (b) Recognition entitlements for EMT certification for eligible grades of firefighter, engineer and lieutenant are as follows= EMT I Instructor EMT II EMT III $ 60/year $120/year $300/year Water and Sewer Utility~ Recognition entitlements for water and sewer cer'tification are: W & S II $180/year W & S III $300/year · O. rdinance No. 414-78,~.Page 4 /_ D. UniformAllowance: 1. The following annual allowances are established to defer the cost of uniform cleaning, maintenance and replacement for second and succeeding years of service: Police - $250.00 Fire - $175.00 Payments shall be made based on pro-rata servlce and paid in July 1st and January 1st installments. 2. On hirin§, the respective department head shall issue from stock or purchase from appropriate funds a basic uniform and equipment issue. 3. Department of Public Works, Water and Sewer and Animal Control personnel shall be authorized by purchase from appropriated funds, safety shoes, hard hats and other OSHA required items· Laundry service will also be provided for those clothin§ items furnished. E. Hourly Rates - Part-time Employees: PT-1 I~.80/hour PT-2 .05/hour PT-3 ll.30/hour PT-4 .55/hour PT-5 $3.80/hour PT-6 i~.05/hour PT-7 .30/hour The effective date of this ordinance shall be July 1, 1978.
