MEETING SUMMARY
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Don Erwin at 4:38 p.m.
a. Pledge of Allegiance
Chair Erwin led those assembled in the Pledge of Allegiance.
b. Roll was confirmed as follows:
Members Present: V. Geller, D. Erwin, L. Nelson, B. Modigh, M. Milewski
Members Absent: R. Williams, A. Weeks, C. Thornton, S. Bise
A quorum was present.
Staff/Council Liaison
Present: Senior Director K. Romain, Administrative Assistant A. Clary, and
Council Member G. Pettey
C. Agenda Approval
MOTION:
Member Modigh MOVED for approval of the agenda as presented and Member Geller
SECONDED the motion. There were no objections. SO ORDERED.
2. SCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMENTS (Public comment limited to three (3) minutes per
speaker, thirty (30) minutes aggregate) — None.
3. UNSCHEDULED PUBLIC COMMENT (Public comment limited to three (3) minutes per
speaker; thirty (30) minutes aggregate) -- NO. --
4. APPROVAL OF MEETING SUMMARY
a. August 13, 2020
MOTION:
Member Milewski MOVED to approve the August 13, 2020 meeting summary as presented and
Member Modigh SECONDED the motion. There were no objections. SO ORDERED.

5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS -- None
6. NEW BUSINESS
a. Discussion — Senior Center Update
Senior Director Romain reported the following:
• Despite COVID-19, day to day operations, including services and grocery deliveries for
seniors, were continuing;
• For the next few weeks, a tentative Friday closure for the kitchen was planned;
• The volunteer/activities coordinator position was being re -advertised;
• The $50,000 Kenai Peninsula Borough CARES Grant was received and will be used to
assist in the remodeling of the card room, purchasing of automatic soap dispensers in
the restrooms, and touchless water bottle filler (replacing the former drinking fountain);
• Through partnering with the Kenai Senior Connection, Inc., Peninsula Community Health
Services, and Hilcorp, Christmas goodie bags for home meals clients will be delivered by
Christmas;
• Because the State was behind in its approval process, she was still waiting to hear
whether her grant request had been approved for COVID funds for older Alaskans and
their caregivers (will provide temporary meals driver, new stove in the kitchen, and
emergency buckets). The grant funds, if approved, will run from January to June 2021.
7. REPORTS
Senior Center — No further report.
b. Council on Aging Chair — Thanked the staff for their work. No further report.
b. City Council Liaison — Council Member Pettey reported the following:
• A bluff erosion update;
• All City public buildings would be closed through the end of the year;
• The fireworks display provided the day after Thanksgiving was well received
throughout the community;
• A City Council meeting schedule update and information;
• Announced Victoria Askin was appointed to Council to fill past member
Peterkin's seat until the October 2021 election. She and Council Members -
Elect Winger and Knackstedt were sworn in at the last council meeting.
8. NEXT MEETING ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATION — January 14, 2021
There were no announcements of absences for the January 14, 2021 meeting.
9. COUNCIL MEMBERS COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS
Member Milewski requested an update about the new van and Member Modigh requested
information about the phone -buddy use.

MOTION:
Member Geller MOVED for adjournment and Member Milewski SECONDED the motion. There
were no objections. SO ORDERED.
