zmprovements, sngtneer ng proposals
council meeting of February 6, 1991
We received proposals to provide professional services for the
referenced project January 30, 1991. The City has contracted with
all of the firms on numerous occasions and received professional,
high quality work from each. Each firm provided the requested
information in their proposals, including the fees as summarized
below.
Hyreco~endation is to award a design contract to Hike Tauriainen,
P.E. in the amount of $17,880. Mr. Tauriainen obviously has
proposed a competitive fee, and he is involved in design of the
.University Fire Training Facility. Coordination of-both projects--
by one firmwould simplify the design and construction process and
possibly save money for both parties.
At this time, I feel we should award only the design portion of the
project now and the construction services portion upon completion
of plans and specifications. We will use the stipu~ated fee, at
that time, unless the project changes from what we now envision it
to be as exact needs are defined. Also, until we have officially
been chosen as the site of the Fire Training Facility, we can not
be certain construction will take place as planned.
