A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL.OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA T~SFERRING
$23,000 IN THE GENEI~FUND FOR ADDITIONALMONEY IN THE SHOP BUDGET.
.WH~S, the Shop operating supply and repair and maintenance sUpPly
budgets are nearly depleted, and at the current'rate of expenditure
will be overspent by year-end, and
WHEREAS, the Public Works DePartment has requested a transfer to
provide additional funds.
NOW, THEREFOP~, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF K~NAI,
ALASKA, that the following budget transfers be made:
General_Fund
From: Other - Contingency
$23,000
To: Shop - Operating Supplies $11,000
Shop - Repair & Naintenance Supplies 12,000

It appears that the accounts of operating supplies and R & M
Supplies in the Shop are not sufficient to complete thisFX~year.
The operating suppXies account has a balance of $10,000 out of a
$75,147 budget. The higher cost of fuel is probably the biggest
contributor to this shortage. Both material costs and freight
costs have also sharply increased.
The R & M Supplies account has a balance of $1,951 out of a
$119,620 budget. When equipment breaks down our shop repairs it.
Costs fluxuate tremendously depending on the severity of the
repairs and the number of repairs. Last month $36,000 was spent in
this-account.- Tbs.-sharp increase_ in cost for the repair and
maintenance parts and freight is a major reason for this shortage.
