Peninsula Ford did not bid the Ford Crown Victoria Police Package vhich would have met bid specifications. The bid specifications were set at 114 inch m/n/muM wheel base to exclude the 8mallet police packages as a result of the past year's experience v/th the Taurus. The shop foreman, Dave Reitz, advised against the smaller vehiole because of difficulties in installing radio and other equipment. Installation of protective screens in the Taurus result in no leg room in the rear seats and an inability to adjust front seats back to accommodate officer8 over six feet tall.
