A RESOLU'lION OF THE COIINCIL OF TH~ CITY OF KENAI , ALASI:A
S-JPPORTING KETCHZKAN GATEWAY BORaUGH JOINT RESOLUTION FOR
It~:INSTATEMENT OF ALI, PLATTING POWER.S PREVIOUSLY ACCORDED
MUNICIPALITIES.
WHEREAS. AS 29.33 mandates tY:at Boroughs shall prc;;ide for
planning, platting, and zoning on an area-wide basis in
recognition that local authorities are most knowledgeable
about local needs and best able to make those decisions
relevant to the quality of community development, and
WHEREAS- AS 29.33.250(b) (a new subsection added bp Sec. 6,
Ch. 85 SLA 1979 on passage of FCCS HB66) li~its 3oc31 platting
authority and the ability of the Community to pro~ride for
orderly development bv ~xempting the platting of undeveloped
State land eligible for disposal under AS 38.05 and AS 38.08
from improvement requ~.rements, and
WfiEREAS, Retchikdn Gateway Borough has ad~gted a joint
Resolution protesti~.~ said provisions , and
i-=' WHEREAS, to assur~ orderly development, it is in the ~~.~.ereR±
of the City of Kenai to have all platting powers previously
~ `~ . accorded muni.cipalities reinstated.
