CITY OF KENAI
RESOLUTION NO. 80-34
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCZL UF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA ZN
SUPPORT OF SENATE BILL 451 AND SENATE HILL 452.
WIiEREAS, adverse weather canditions in the State of Ala~k3
create a need for protected sports facilities for such
sports as track, football, hockey, softball, youth league
base.ball, ice skating, archery, basketball, tennis, youth
league football, handball, and racquetball, and
WHEREAS, the "mini-dome" concept would provide the above
facilities at minimum cost, and
WfiEREAS, a"mini-dome" could also be made available for
large gatherxngs such as concerts, trade shows, commencement
exercises, revivals, family reunions, and even conventions,
and
WHEREAS, a"mini-dome" could also provide office space,
recreationaZ activities space, storage spacz and meetiag
rooms at ~inimal cost, and
WHEREAS, the St~lte of Alaska has sufficient monies to fund
thA mini dom~s out of its s~rplus, and
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai is ca~able of constructin~ and
maintaining the above facilities in accordance with Senate
Bil~ 451.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TFiE CITY OF
KENAI, ALASKA that the City of Kenai endorses the "mini-
dome" concept and urges our State Governor and Legislators
to support Senate Bills 451 and 452.
