R~GULAROCTOBER 6, 1987 ~ECTZON, PROPOSITIONS FOR THE PURPOSES
OF BXIIPTING MUNICIPAL OFFICERS AND CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIV~
OFFICE FRONT HE 8TAT~ OF ALASKA CONFLICT OF INTEREST LAW (AS
39.50), AND MUNICIPAL CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE AND
POLITICAL GROUPS AND PERSONS ATTEMPTING TO INFLUENCE THE OUTCOME
OF A MUNICIPAL ELECTION FRONT HE STATE OF ALASKA CAMPAIGN
DISCLOSURE bAN (AS 15.13).
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Kenai feels that the Conflict
of Interest and Campaign Disclosure Statements do not have mny
specific advantage in protecting the electorate; end,
WHEREAS, the Council feels that the Conflict of Interest and
Campaign Disclosure Statements are an unnecessary added burden on
candidates for public office and municipal officers; and,
WHEREAS, the Council feels the Kenai Municipal Code adequately
protects the City's interests and the rights of the citizens of
Kenai.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KENAI, AI~ASKA, that the following propositions be submitted to
the qualified voters of the City of Kenai at the October 6, 1987
regular election in substantiallF the same form as set out
hereinafter:
PROPOSITION
Shall the municipal officers and candidates for
elective office of the City of Kenai be exempt from the
requirements of the State of Alaska Conflict of
Interest Law (AS 39.50)?
