HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 1985-103/~ .. .f ___..,~___ ~ '~O ~~ls_ /~ l9'i~"'~`~"~"'" Suggested by City CIerk ,~- /_ RESOLUTION 85 - 103 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA PROVIDING FOR SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF KENAI AT THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF JANUARY 7, 1986 FOR THE PURPOSE OF AMENDING SECTION 10-3 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF KENAI, AMENDING PETITION REQUIREMENTS. WHEREAS, the State of Alaska has amended Title 29 of the State Code relating to candidate petitions, and WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to conform to State Statute. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI AS FOLLOWS: PROPOSITION Section 10-3 of the Charter of the City of Kenai reads as follows: "Any qualified person may have his name placed on the ballot for the election as a candidate for mayor or councilman by filing, with the City Clerk at times and pursuant to procedures provided by ordinance, a sworn statement of his candidacy; provided that such sworn statement shall be accompanied by a nominating petition signed by 20 or more registered qualified city votera." Shall such section be amended to read as follows? "Any qualified person may nave his name placed on the ballot for the election as a candidate for mayor or councilman by filing a declaration of candidacy with the clerk at times and pursuant to procedures provided by ordinance, a sworn statement of his candidacy."
