Kornelis: As you noted in your letter to me dated October 20, 1983, the Contractor on the First and Second Street Project has run past his original completion date of October 13, 1983. We have maintained contact with t e Contractor uring the winters ut own period and have initiated correspondence with the Cont- ractor to insure that his crews complete the project by their nrw deadline of June 15, 1984. In our May 17, 1984 letter to Prosser Construction, the Cont- ractor, we expressed a concern that the Contractor was not meeting his contrac- tural obligations to the City of Kenai. I requested that the Contractor con- tact us to have a meeting on site in order to determine a schedule for complet- ion of the work. The Contractor responded by telephone and a meeting was held at 1:30 pm on May 22, 1984. _Due to circumstances beyond our control, the construction period has extended b_ eyond the time limit envisioned by our construction management contract with the Cit of Kenai. In order to insure that adequate construction management services are ava able to the City necessary to insure that this project is completed to design specifications, we are offering to extend our contract with the City of Kenai. We anticipate that the Contractor will complete the project within ten working days., Based on this assumption, we believe that we can provide the necessary services for a not to exceed amount of $4,000.00. We are continuing to inspect the project at this time in order to insure the Contractor completes the project according to plans. Sincerely, :, Wm. J. Nelson & associates •- "' . - .~. - --- Wm J. L ~~~ ~~~~~ Dear Mr. Rornelis: In my letter to you dated May 24, 1984, I estimated that the contractor would finish the First & Second Street project in IO working days. This estimate was based on the contractor's verbal projected work schedule. Based on this assumption, we estimated it would cost approximately $4,000.00 to provide inspection during this period. As our field reports indicate, the contractor worked on at least 24 separate days, and we visited the site 4 additional days to either discuss the project with City personnel or check the contractor's activity or lack thereof, for a total of 28 days. This has required us to over run our estimated budget of $4,000.00 due to the contractor's additional work time. Since some days did not require a full day of inspection we limited our time o n the job respectively. Our billing through June 23, 1984 is attached. Please consider the above information in your review of our bill. The project was inspected by myself and Jack LaShot on June 26, 1984. At that time the project was substantially complete.
