RESOLUTION NO. 83-46
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF KENAI MUNICIPAL AIRPORT SECURITY FENCING - 1983 TO ALASKA FENCE
COMPANY, INC. FOR THE AMOUNT OF $157,497.70.
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai received the following bids:

WHEREAS, Schedule A is to construct new fencing around the FBO area south of the
terminal; Schedule B is to construct new fencing, relocate and reconstruct
fencing around the FBO area north of the terminal; and Schedule C, AA #1 and AA
#2 is to restore existing fence from the tower area to the extreme north.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department and Airport Manager recommends awarding all
schedules and additive alternates.
WHEREAS, this resolution is contingent upon Federal Aviation Administration
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA that
a contract be awarded for construction of Kenai Municipal Airport Security
Fencing - 1983 to Alaska Fence Company, Inc. in the amount of $157,497.70.

MEMORANDUM
TO: Wm. J. Brighton, City Manager
FROM: Jim Swalley, Airport Manager
RE: Airport Fencing Projects
On April 7, 1983, I contacted Mr. Dick Griffith of the Airports
Division, FAA, concerning the City's desire to award the contract
to a local bidder. He advised me that the FAA would honor only
the low bid (Alaska Fence $157,497.70).
After reviewing the bid specs, he conceded that we could award
the Schedule B bid to Peninsula Fence, but to preclude the
problems of multiple contracts, two (2) contractors on the job at
the same time, etc., he strongly recommends against it and does
recommend the entire bid go to Alaska Fence.
