HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 1983-148Suggested by: Administration CITY OF KENAI RESOLUTION NO. 83-148 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO HUTCHINGS CHEVROLET FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO 1984 POLICE CARS. WHEREAS, the City of Kenai solicited bids for the purchase of two 1984 police cars, and the following bids were received on October 27, 1983: Bidder Cost (2 cars) Hutchings Chevrolet $22,947.60 Peninsula Ford 21.958.58 WHEREAS, the bid from Peninsula Ford does not meet the specifica- tions, and as a result their cars do not have adequate space to install radio and radar equipment, and WHEREAS, the Hutchings Chevrolet bid is the lowest responsible bid meeting the specifications. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, that a contract be awarded to Hutchings Chevrolet for the purchase of two 1984 police cars at a total cost of $22,947.60. There were two bidders that responded to the invitation to bid for 2 ea. 1984 police cars. 1) Hutchings Chevrolet $22,947.60 (2 ea) 2) Peninsula Ford $21,958.58 (2 ea) Recommendation Recommend award of bid be made to Hutchings Chevrolet in the amount of $22,947.60. Justification 1) Peninsula Ford has advised that they cannot provide bucket seats. 2) The city shop foreman has advised that he took measurements of the Ford interior with the bench seat. He advises that the Ford does not have enough room to mount the radio and radar equipment that is to be installed in these vehicles.
