Brighton, City Manager FROM: Keith Kornelis, Director of Public Works SUBJECT: Pickup Bids One Councilperson at the last Council meeting requested that I contact Roberts and Redfield for a price estimate on the pickups that we bid. After looking at the price differences, I realized that even though the specifications are our normal pickup specifications, we did include a local government and an FAA radio. These radios cost about $1,400 each which accounts for $2,800 for each pickup. The $2,800 for the radios is part of Hutchings Chevrolet-Oldsmobile's price. I called Roberts and Redfield for a price estimate on these pickups and received the follow- ing phone quote. Roberts $ Redfield 1/2-Ton Pickup $ 8,991 Bulk Freight 1,300 Radios 2 800 TOTAL $13; t 1 3/4-Ton Picku $10,294 Bulk Freiglit 1,300 Radios TOTAL 2 808000 $14,349 3/4-Ton H.D. Brighton Page 2 August 27, 1982 After receiving Roberts & Redfield's quote, it was apparent why they no longer bid on City pickups. The City of Kenai did at one time specifically solicit Roberts & Redfield's bid which at that time also turned out higher than the other bids. They have not, to my knowledge, ever requested any bid documents. I respectfully request that Hutchings Chevrolet-Oldsmobile's bid be accepted, and the City of Kenai award the bid as per Resolution No. 82-95. KK/jet I I ■ f 1 I .:.
