RESOLUTION N0. 77-36
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF KENAI, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR A STEP #1
SEWERAGE TREATMENT STUDY.
WHEREAS, the Federal and State governments sponsor, through
grant monies studies, surveys and construction to upgrade
and implement the Federal Water Control Act, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the City of Kenai needs
to analyze and upgrade its wastewater collection, treatment
and disposal system, and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has indicated its desires
to participate in such a study relative to determination of
needs and economic feasibility of service to other borough
areas outside the City, in addition to Wildwood, and
WHEREAS, the plan study is to be developed in accordance with
the requirements of Public Law 92-500, and will set forth
facilities required to serve the needs of the area, and
WHEREAS, the program eligible costs are borne 87~~ by the
State and Federal governments, with 12~~ borne by the local
municipalities, in this case shared based in a population
formula between the City and the Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Kenai, Alaska, that the City Manager is hereby authorized
and directed to apply to the United States Environmental
Protection Administration for a Step #1 Sewerage Planning
Grant in the gross amount of $82,640.00, and execute the
necessary grant agreements and other documents as necessary
to this wastewater facilities planning grant.
