A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION REQUESTING
FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SEWER AND WATER LINES TO
VARIOU5 LOCATIONS WITHIN THE CITY AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO SIGN THIS APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, the east central portion of the City of Kenai is continuously
increas£nq in populatioa density to a point where shallow wells and
septic systems are no longer safe, ground water quality fs poor, and the
high water table is susceptible to contamination, and where the install-
ation of water and sewer systems in these areas can substantially reduce
insurance rates in that area by providing fire protection, and;
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Kenai City Council to protect its
citizens from health and safety hazards due to potentially polluted
graund water, and;
WHEREAS, it is also the desire of the City of. Kenai Councfl to provide
this area with the proper fire protection water system, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai wishes to submit an application to the
Farmers Home Administration under program PL-92-419 in the amount of
$239,900.00, andt
WHEREAS, the City of Kenai Council wishes to authorize the City Manager
ta sign this grant application;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That the City of Kenai Council authorize the City Manager to submit
to the Farnters Home Administration under program PL-92-419 an application
requestinq Federal assfstance in the amount of $239,900.00 for the
construction of a sewer and water system in the east central portion of
the City of Kenaf, and hereby au~~±~rizes the City Manager to sign this
grant application.
