WHEREAS. the (:ouncil of the City of Kenai deems it neceseary in the best intere~st of the citizens to consolidate the electrical pawer systems on the Peninsula into one system, andJ WHEREAS, the City of Kenai, in connection with ita mtusicfpai electric system awns and operates properties for the puchase, transmisaion, distri- butiou, suppiy, and sale of eleatric pawer and energyt and is engaqed in the bnsiness of supplying and aellfng electric power and energy to residentidl, camroercial, i~dustrial and qovarrnaental cons~aners in and about the City of Kensi. Alaska, a~ndi ~EtEREAB, Homer Electric Associetion is an electr:tc cooperative under the laa+a of the State of lllaska enqaqed amonq other electric activities in the busfness of purchneing, transanitting, dietributinq, supplyinq and eellinq electric energy i~~ the State of Alaeka, andi WHEREAB, Homer Electric Associatlon's electric syatem is or can be inter- aonnected with that of the City of Kenei for the purpose of furnishing standby .te electric pawer, ewd= wHEREAS, the Kenai City Councii deems that operation isy Ho~ner Electric Association of the City's eleatric system Nould be beneficial to the City and to the City's eiectric custaaers, and= WHER~AS, the Council is of the opinfon that such HOmer Electric Aesociation operation of the City's electricai system cari be aacomplfshed throuqh a lease- purchase agreement by the City of Kenad to Homer Electric Association of the electric transmisaion and distribution syetem of the City for the term and in accordance with the conditions and provfaions hereof, and: WHEREAS- the City and Homer Electric Associatfon further deen- it mutually deairable in connection with such agreement for the City of Kenai to sell to Homer Electric Aasnciation and for Hon-er Electric Aseociation to puz~chase all polea, wires, meters, tranaformers auid electric materials and supplies owned by the City of Kenai and held in atock and not fn service at the beginning of thia aqreement, andj ~ ~ i! ~ _ t~ ~_;,, ;_._._T _..~.,~.-~ ~~~...,-_ _ .~ ___ _~ ~ _ __ ~ 7 ~~...~.~.w-~..~.~. ~-~.~ ~ ~+.s~-~ _ r_ _' _ _ ~ - . n- ~ ~_ ~~;.- ~.~..:...~.~.~ . ... ~ ...-_. t~~_.. . .~_ ' . ~~ -_..-'t-.-. _ ...._... .. . ..~_' " . WHEREIIS, Homer Electtic Aesociation is agreeable to entering into an aqreement as aforesaids NOW, THEREF(SRL, BE IT RESOLVED THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES THE CONCEPT OF THE LEASE PURCHASE AGREEMENT DATED APRIL 1, 1971, SUB.TECT TO FINAL AND PORHAL APPR0~1//AL BY THE COUNCIL APTER ALL REQUIRED P.EVIEW BY 4fDI~R AGENCIES.
