WHEREAS, the road running due north of the City of Kenai, Alaska,
has long been known as the North Kenai, Road; and
WHEREAS, the extension of such road presently known as the North
Kenai Road has frequently been designated the Kenai-Hope Road, will be
even more vital upo:, construction of a Turnagain Arm crossing; and
IiHEREAS, the extension of this road is a matter of vital concern
to the development of the entire Stata of Alaska, including the est-
ablishoent of a "Figure 8" route on the Kenai Peninsula; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kenaf, Alaska, has ex-
pressed a 3esi.re that the road be officially named Kenai Peninsula
Coastal Highway ;
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved:
1. That the Governor of the State of Alaska, the ~~ommissioner
of Public Works, the Director of the Division of Highways, are respect-
fully urged to take appropriate action at the earliest possible ~t?re
to designate the road described herein as the Kenai Peninsula
. Coastal Hi~ihwaY and
Z. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable
Nilliam A. Egan, Governor of the State of Alaska, Commissioner Richard
A. Downing, 6epartment of Public Works, Director Sam Johnson, Division
of Highways, the Honorable E. L. (Bob) Bartlett, and the Honorable
Ernest Greening, U. S. Senators from Alaska, and the Honorable Ralph J.
P.ieers, Representative from Alaska, and to such other offices within
the executive brdnch of the government of the State of Alaska as would
be required.
