itESULUTION NO 63-13
WHEREAS the Constitution of the State of Alaska requires that each borough
shall eabrace an~'area and population vita cos*on interests to the asxiau~
degroe possible,an~
fifN~~EAi Election District No. 9 does not have population, geographical, econ-
oaic, transportation or other factors in coon rith Election District g10. and
WHEREAS the Hoasr area had aide a request for an election for a borough en-
cop~assin g the Hones Recording District, and
WHEREAS s borough encoalpsssing the area as set forth in CS for HB90 as aarndsd
rould result in less local school control and thersfora inferior educational
standards, and
WHEREAS a borough study grasp dedicated to the establishabnt of a borough en-
coa~pa~ssfng sn identical area to the area presently included in CS for HE 90
proved highly unpopular and failed to secure any arearide support
NON THEREFORE THE CITY OF KENAI RESOLVE5:
1. That the City of Kenai is opposed to the bosoush boundaries as sit
forth in CS for HB 90 as encoded and including election districts 9 and 10.
2. That the City of Kenai heartily endorsss the efforts of Honer to
establish its own borough.
