Mission Avenue is a high priority area that has become very near the bluffs edge and is at risk of freezing due to a growing lack of pipe coverage. This project will remove from service the section of main most at risk as indicated within the photo below. Several new valves will be installed to allow for the abandonment of the line with two new fire hydrants being placed into service to allow for flushing of the pipelines in this area. Completion of this work now allows the Department to manage this work in a controlled manner, and will avoid potentially serious and extensive erosion in the event the line fails while still under pressure. Completion of this work is necessary for the continued effective management of the utility. Council's support is respectfully requested. ask 4
