HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 1969-06 ,~ ------~ - . ... _....__ . ~-_. _ _ ,~....d.......,~ .-- .~- _ _ - CIT11 OF KEtiAI RESOLUTION N0. 69-6 RESOLUTION URGING IFIISEDIATE ACTION ON DOCKET R~10. 19881, THE f4ATTER NOti BEFORE THE CIYIL AERONAUTICS 60ARD. l!HEREAS, it becomes increasingly important to the economic Mell- being of the Kenai Community that affirmative action be taken on Docket Number 19881, and; Q!HEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Kenai to formally further their answer to said Docket on June 21, 19b8, aid; WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Kenai to encourage their Congressional Represeatation to urge i~amediate' action on said Docket: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COt~If90N COUNCIL OF THE CIT11 OF KEi~AI , ALASKA THAT 1: That the Civil Aeronautics Board be urged to act favorably as soon as possible on the matters contained in Docket No. 19881 insofar as it pertains to the request of Wien Consolidated Air Lines to extend service on a regular scheduled basis from Anchorage to Kenai, Alaska. 2: The Congressional Delegation from the State of Alaska is urged by copies of this Resolution to add their stropgest support to the request contained by Wien Consolidated Airlines in Docket No, 19881. 3: The absence of competitive air service into the City of Kenai is acting detrimental to the interest of the City of Kenai in that, people in the oil and gas industry are moving their operations to other areas or closing their operations in Kenai because of tike of adequate freight and passenger serrice from Kenai directly to the North Slope operation. The application of I11en Consolidated Airlines contained in Docket Mo. 19881 Mould guarantee such service betMeen Kenai and said North Slope area. 4: The copies of this Resolution shall be forNarded immediately to the Civil Aeronautics board and the Congressional Delegation from the State of Alaska.
