KENAI CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS htt vwwv.ci.kenai.ak.us MAYOR PAT PORTER, PRESIDING lUFTrTTTqr17-e ITEM A: CALL TO ORDER Mayor Porter called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. A-1. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Porter led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance A-2, Roll Call Roll was taken by the City Clerk. Present were: James N. Butler, III Pat Porter, Mayor Joe Moore Linda Swarner Cliff Massie Rick Ross Absent were: Blaine Gilman A quorum was present. A-3. Agenda Approval MOTION: Council Member Moore MOVED for approval of the agenda as presented and requested UNANIMOUS CONSENT. Council Member Swarner SECONDED the motion. There were no objections. SO ORDERED. ITEM B: NEW BUSINESS Approval -- Appointment of Acting City Manager EXECUTIVE SESSION -- Appointment of Acting City Manager MOTION: Council Member Moore MOVED to convene in an executive session of the Council of the City of Kenai to discuss a personnel issue, selection of Acting City Manager with the Council first meeting together and then invite interested candidates later and possibly the City Attorney. Council Member Swarner SECONDED the motion. w SPECIAL KENAI CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 159 2005 PAGE 2 VOTE: Butler Yes Porter Yes Moore Yes Swarner Yes Massie Yes Ross Yes Gilman Absent MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. COUNCIL CONVENED INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION AT 6:03 P.M. COUNCIL RECONVENED AT 7:47 P.M. Council Member Butler reported the Council met in an executive session to consider the appointment of an acting city manager. He noted, in his short tenure on the council, it was one of the highlights to see two, not just department heads, but two people who have committed a lot time to their careers in public service and to the City of Kenai. With all their (council's) decisions, this was one of the more difficult ones to make. MOTION: Council Member Butler MOVED to appoint Chuck Kopp as Acting City Manager, effective Sunday, July 17, 2005 for up to five months with salary to be approved at the next regularly scheduled council meeting. Council Member Swarner SECONDED the motion. VOTE: Butler Yes Porter Yes Moore Yes Swarner Yes Massie Yes Ross Yes Gilman Absent MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
