CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE A: ROLL CALL CANVASS OF BALLOTS OPENING AND TALLYING ABSENTEE AND QUESTIONED BALLOTS CERTIFICATION OF ELECTION ADJOURNMENT i t 1 MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING KENAI CITY COUNCIL CANVASS OF BALLOTS OCTOBER 2, 1974 8:00 P.M. CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE ROLL CALL: Members gresent - Tru McGrady, Robert Norene, H. J. Steiner, Robert a eteTd,'James Doyle, A. L. Hudson and Mayor C. E. Johnson. Members absent - None. The Clerk reported 18 absentee ballots were issued and 16 were returned. They are all qualified registered voters. Steiner moved and Norene seconded to accept the absentee ballots for counting. The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote. The Clerk reported that of the 19 questioned ballots, ten were found to be qualified voters. The Election Supervisor in Anchorage spent most of the afternoon checking their registrations Norene moved and Steiner seconded to accept the 10 qualified questioned ballots for counting and reject the 9 unqualified ballots. The motion carried unanimously by roll call vote. Councilman McGrady opened the outer yellow envelopes and =� separated them from the white envelopes. Councilman Norene opened the white envelopes. Councilman Doyle read the ballots and Councilman Bielefeld and Steiner tallied the ballots. There were 26 absentee and questioned ballots, tallied as follows: Mayor Councilman - 1 yr. trm. Steiner moved and Norene seconded to declare a recount and have the Chairmen of each Precinct be the judges and the alternates in alphabetical order, with Viola Williamson from Precinct 3 as the Chairman of the Recount.
