Members present: Charles Bailie, Robert Bielefeld, Mrs. Florine
McCollum, Hugh Malone and Mayor Morin;
!Members absent - Billy McCann and John Hulien.
Item 1: The tabulations for bids on insurance for all departments
of the City for this fiscal year were discussed. The City only had
two complete bids which were from Leo T. Oberts Company and LaBow
Haynes of Alaska. Mr. Gene Read of LaBow Haynes of Alaska was pre-
sent to advise with Council. After discussion, Councilman Bielefield
made a motion that the low bid of LaBow Haynes be accepted. Motion
seconded by Councilman Bailie. Motion carried unanimously by roll
call vote of those present.
Item 2: The Council had requested the Accounting firms of Peat
Marwick Mitchell and Company, Browning, Ellis & Siddle and Hedla &
Sherwood be represented at this meeting to discuss hiring an auditor
for the City.
III Mr. Siddle of Browning, Ellis & Siddle presented his proposal
to Council and his bid of $3, 300.00 for professional time of exami-
nation and review. There would be an additional $500.00 if they act-
ually publish the report. Mr. Siddle was thanked for his proposal
and Mr. Harrison drove him to the Airport.
Mr. Sherwood of Hedla & Sherwood presented his proposal to
Council and stated the cost would be between $4.500. and $5,500.00.
The Council thanked Mr. Sherwood for his proposal and he left the
Council Chambers.
Mr. Lance Anderson of Peat Marwick & Mitchell presented his
proposal and the cost was approximately the same as Mr. Sherwood's.
He was thanked and also left the Council Chambers.
After much discussion on the auditingfMotion to accept the
proposal of Hedia.and Sherwood was made by Councilman Malone;
Motion seconded by Councilman Bielefeld.
Discussion continued and Councilman Malone amended the motion
to add'that a principal of the company must be here to perform the
audit. Motion to amend the first motion was seconded by Bielefeld.
Motion carried unanimously by those present.
Councilman Malone requested that the advertisements for City
Manager be placed in the Anchorage Times and all magazines which
have circulation in the State, which publish such advertisements.
