We; Members absent - John Hulien and Bob Bielefeld. Also present: Harold Galliett, Jr., Ray Niemi, w/Galliett; Jim Swing; R. Carignan and three others (unknown). Galliett said the City ahs come out in good shape on these bids: they were well - grouped, not too scattered and close to Engr's. estimate. The over-all Complete low bidder is National Mechanical Contractors, Inc. of Anchor- age, Alaska, with a bid of $1,257,541.65. Since the City had announced funds avail- able were $1 2503000.00 we will either have to omit deductive alternate #3 which brings the bid down to $1,226,067.55 and deletes sewer to the high school, or we will have to come up with $7,541.65. It was thought maybe the School Board would be agreeable to furnishing this extra money in order to tie-in the High School on the sewer system. Also the City Manager and contractor will get together to see what they can come up with; and Harrison and Galliett will meet with EDA to see about the discrepancy in costs. Mr. Cameron is on the Peninsula today - the Mayor will see about trying to get him together with Harrison before he leaves for Outside. This bids of $1,257,541.65 will take care of everything; water and sewer to the hi school and all related street improvements. McCann moved, Seaman seconded, to tentatively award the contract for Water, Sewer and Associated St, Improvements, HDA Project #07-1-00271 to low bidder, Nat- ional Mechanical Contractors, Inc., subject to approval of EDA. Motion passed unani imously. 'There will be a special meeting of the Council Wednesday to canvass the ballots, meet with ABC Board and receive bids on sale of 1967 Bonds. Council agreed an announcement should go in the paper asking the citizenry to bear with us while streets are so torn up with water, sewer, gas, telephone and paving construction is going on. Also Harrison will get together with all the contractors at a meeting every week, or oftener, so each will know where the other is going and they won't get in each other's way. Every effort will be made to afford access and egress to all properties, but this is very difficult in some areas where all streets are not in; passage for the fire trucks will be first priority. Meeting adjourned 4:22 p.m. Re spectfully ` ✓y , Frances Torkilsen City Clerk t,/ JJA.Aa14'ldSSSl6S3¢l-flEln!'SR.ar.uv... s.sydt'!.w/J ww.w.►.... a E - . —
