HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-01-31 Council MinutesCity Council minutes for meeting of January 31, 1961, 8:30 PM Members present: Tom Hayes, John Swanson, Carl Swanson and Helen Stetzer,D/r✓ HeR Ad Guests presents 15 Motion by Carl Swanson, seconded biy Helen Stetzer to replentish the fund for operating the road maintainer, to authorize the clerk to set aside the sum of $100.00 for the purpose of supplying parts and fuel for the machine. Included in this motion was authorization for the clerk to pay Jim Hollingsworth for labor in operating the maintainer the suin of $49.60. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Dick Morgan seconded by Helen Stetzer to contact Ns. Peavley, a candi'ate for law enforcement officer, and invite him to attend the Council's executive meeting on February 149 at 8s00 PM, in the Civic League Building. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Tom Hayes seconded by Carl Swanson that the clerk correspond with the following people in connection with a bill presented to the Council by Mrs. Donnis Thompsons League of Alaskan Cit#es, Representative Rhode, Senator Howard W. Pollock, Senator Erwin L. Metcalf and Governor William A. Eagen. This correspondence was to indicate the Council's endorsement of the proposed bill which reads: (See other side) Motion passed unanimously. The following directions were given the clerks Letter to be directed to Mr. Roscoe Bell, Division of Lands, regarding his correspondence of January 249 1961. The Council's reply was that they were waiting for Alaska Housing Authority's interim zoning code before acting on Mr. Bell's proposed disposal of -lands. Clerk was directed to make seven copies of the P31mer Ordinance on Planning and distribute one each to the council members. X Clerk was directed to write City Attorney Burton Biss to get his opinion on the Strandberg appraisal of the Kenai Power Corporation. Clerk was directed to conacel order on traffic tickets un4.il a meeting could be had with a prospective law enforcement office/to evaluate ether forms. The mayor announced that the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month would be the regular meeting dates for the council in public session, and that the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays would be reserved for Executive meetings.
