City Council minutes for meeting of March 7, 1961, 8:25 P. M.
Members present: Morgan, Hayes, Cones, Dolchok, Stetzer. Morgan presided
as chairman in the absence of Mayor Swanson.
Motion by Stetzer, seconded by Hayes to authorize the Clerk to pay the
following bills: A & 3 Auto $2,70, Jim Hollingsworth $160,20, C heechako
News $4,00, Luke's Welding $2.50, Rates Brothers $70.92.
Motion by Stetzer seconded by Cones to make the Civic League Building
a place for posting public notices and that an official bulletin board
be constructed and placed in an obvious place.
The Council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance providing for the
assessing, levying and collecting, including the foreclosing of taxes by
the tC iitty of Kenai. This ordinance was given its first reading at this
Motion by Hayes, seconded by Stetzer, passed unanimously to proceed with
Rowan Lane, Architect, on the application for advanced planning funds
from the Home and Housing Pinance Agency based upon the C ouncilts
directions of area involved. This area to be determined by the Council
in an executive meeting.
Motion by Hayes, seconded by Cones to accept the plat of Mr. iWb Oehlers
sub -division, B. L. M., Lot 138, Wit, SW4, 3E4f 3W4, Section 31, T6N,
P11W, Seward Meridian, as submitted with the C ouncil's suggestion that
consideration be given to the reservation of 33 Peet along the east
boundary for street right of way. Passed unanimously.
Motion by Hayes seconded by Stetzer to Invent $20,000.00 .,of the present
City Treasury in a certificate of deposit withtthe Citi National Bank of
Anchorage, Kenai Branch. This certificate to bear in Brest at the rate
of 2%. Passed unanimously.
The audience and the Council discussed the Kenai power situation. Mr.
Loren Whittington presented bills levied on residents of his trailer
court. The Clerk was directed to write a letter to the City Attorney
transmitting these rates and seeking information regarding what the
Council could do to regulate these high rates.
Motion to adjourn by Stetzer, seconded by Hayes, passed unanimously at
10:00 P. M.
