Minutes for Council meeting of April 4, 1961.
Members present: Morgan, Stetzer, Hayes, Dolchok and Mayor Swanson
The Clerk presented the following; bills for payment:
ftler'Reproduction & Supply $9.60; A&S Auto Supply 75¢; Center Service
$15.40; Estes Brothers 62.90; Yukon Office Supply Inc. 35.11; Kenai
High School $15,00; Motion dry Morgan, seconded by Stetzer, to pay
bills; passed unanimously.
Mr. Dye, a representative of Kenai District School Board, requested that
the Council inquire about the disposal of 40 acres of land from the
Bureau of Land Management. This tract is in Section 33, SE4, SE4,
T6N R11W, Seward Meridian, and has been withdrawn by Public Land Order
No. 1212 and reserved for future classification. Mr. Dye wished to know
If the City of Kenai could purchase this tract of land for use in con-
structing a school. A motion was made by Stetzer, seconded by Hayes, to
have the Clerk inquire about the disposal of this particular parcel and
also about any availability of lands in Section 36, for the same purpose.
Motion passed unanimously. + -1
Mr. Jay Lietzke, Chairman of the Planning Commission, reported on the
Commissionts first two sessions. He requested $200.00 for an initial fund
for purchases of maps and supplies. He also reported that a public
meeting of the Planning Commission would be held on the third Monday of
each month. The Planning Commission had acted upon the proposed zoning
ofthe Beaver Creek Subdivision and the Council voted unanimously to
accept their decision to classify 32 residential lots instead of the
State Division of NU Landis 10, and 10 commercial lots instead of the
Divisionts 32. The Clerk was directed to Mr. Roscoe E. Bell, Director
of the Division of Lands, transmitting the decision of the Planning
Commission.
Motion by Morgan, seconded by Hayes, to cancel motion of March 21, 1961,
which authorized the purchase of Ford Police Cruiser for bid price of
02,879.27 and to purchase a Dodge Police Cruiser from Bay City Motors
of Seward for a price of 02,598.50. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Morgan, seconded by Stetzer, to purchase m&neograph from Kenai
High School for the sum of $110.00. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Morgan, seconded by Stetzer, to secure Stanley McLane to
accomplish survey as required to establish location marker on upstream
side of Army property, passed unanimously.
Ordinance #7 became a law by unanimous 'rote of the Council. Effective
date April 4, 1961.
%lotion by Morgan, seconded by Hayes, to employ the Arctic Engineering
V.�firm to undertake a power study in addition to the appraisal presently
being undertaken. Passed unanimously.
The Council motioned to adjourn at 10:35 p.m.
