I:embers present: Dick :•:or6an, Ton, Hayes, Chet Cones, I ac iicGahan, Carl Seaman, Carl Swanson. Dick :'orr-an presided as chairrien in the absence of :%ayor Swanson. The City Clerk -ave the oath of office to the newly elec'-ed councilmen. Mr. Charles Archer of the Kenai Volunteer Fire Department was scheduled to be heard. He questioned whether the Fire Dept. should operate outside the limits of the City of Kenai. lie also mentioned that if the ambulance would be moved from its present place to the Fire Hall, it would affect the rental of the hall which brings in :�520 revenue per year. He also statod that if the Council wished to hake anymore expenditures for the Fire Dept., a fog nozzle would help them most. Fiction by Seaman seconded by McGehan, that the Fire Department answer any call regardless of the vicinty being outside the limits of Kenai. Passed unanimously. Motion by Cone seconded by Carl Swanson_ that the clerk advertise for bids on the impounding of vehicles, inclusive of storage. That there be a deadline on receiving the bids of June 6, 1961. Passed Unanimously. The Clerk was directed to answer Ir. Stan Wolfe's letter explaining the advertising of bids. The Clerk was directed to write the Homemakers thanking then for their consideration in changing the date of their meeting. The Clerk was directed to write a letter to City Attorney Burton Biss, in regard to House Bill #41 and House Bill 4,124. Both of these bills relating to teachers salary raise. Motion by Carl Swanson, seconded by Hayes to authorize w40.00 additional filing fee to process lease of tidelands for 55 years on the City Dock Site. This to filed with the St6te-Division of Lands. Passed unanimously. i The Clerk was directed to write a letter to the State Department of Fish and Garre, asking for approval for the tide lands relative to the dock site. Motion by Cone, seconded by Hayes that the Clerk pay $447.34 in current bills. Passed unanimously. Letter from the Planning Comr_ission was read and discussed. Motion by Seaman, seconded by IfcGahan to accept the Planning Cor.,missionts recommendation relative to the Division of Lands disposal of lands in the Beaver Creek Subdivision, per the Planning Coitzaissionts letter. Passed unanimously. Motion by Carl Swanson seconded by Chet Cone that the Council approve a raffle license for US Civil Air Patrol. Passed unanimously. P. 0. Box 222 KENAI, ALASKA Minutes for Special meeting May 12, 1961. Mr. F. J. Keenan, Lease and Sale Manager for the State Division of Lands announced that the Land Sale would begin at 1:30 P. at the Fire Hall May 13. He also stated that the State Division of Lands would fully cooperate with the Planning Connnission with regard to the disposition of lands within the City of Kenai. The Council held a Public discussion of the proposed Interim: Zoning Ordinance. Dick Morgan called for a motion to table - no motion was wade. Then Mr. Morgan called for a vote for approval and acceptance or rejection. The Ordinance was unanimously rejected by the Council. Motion by Seaman seconded by McGahan to return the interiem Zoning Ordinance to the Planning C onx-Assion for change and further study. Passed unanimously. Whe Council motioned to adjourn at 11:00 P.
