Visitors present: Waldo Coyle, Jiro Iio1lin; surorth, Jess Nichols,Frank Rowley, Leo Oberts, Torkelson, ::rs. Peavley. Minutes for the meeting of .:ay 12, 1961 were read and approved. Letter was read from H. T;. Beck and associates regarding the present power study in the City of Kenai. Letter wr read from the Planning Commission datedI•iay 8, 1961. Motion by Seaman, seconded by Ye Gahan to authorize the Police Chief to hire i guards at his discretion to guard prisioners and to authorize the Clerk to disburse $2.00 per hour in payment for this service. Passed unanimously Motion by Seaman, seconded by McGahan that the Police Chief be authorized to purchase the necessary meals and supplies for the care of City prisioners. Passed unanimously. Under old business: An executive meeting of the Council was set for Friday, May 19, at 8:00 PM. The purpose of this meeting was to be for / discussion of the Homestead property tax evaluation, - - - - The Clerk was directed to write the State Department of Revenue regarding the procedures for obtaining morAies collected from the salmon pack tax for 1960. I•ur. Galliet reported on tho sewerage and water proposed for the City of Kenai. Because the budget had not been revised and accelpted, further action on the Home and Housing Finance Agency application was delayed. Seaman made a resolution that the City of Kenai hereby resolves that Xr. Jobn Swanson is authorized to act for the City of Kenai for the application for advanced funds for public works planning with the Federal Housing and Home Finance Agency, Bpproved Unanimously, Under new business: Jim Hollingsworth reported that the City grader needs a bearing repaired. Motion by Hayes , seconded by McGahan that `. the grader be taken to Smoky Tum Suden for the necessary repairs and to authorize Jim Hollingsworth to act as the Cityts agent to contact the Road Commission for parts. Passed unanimously. The Clerk was directed to write Mr. R. G. Dwyre, of the District Engineers d Department of Public Works, Anchorage, concernino. tho construction of a connecting link from Kenai to Kasilof Beach. i Motion by C. Swanson, seconded by Seaman to direct the Clerk to make i application on behalf of the City of Kenai for at least 60 acres to be set aside for school use in Section 6.
